At the beginning of the year, life didn't seem too promising. I started the year jobless. It was time to work on my resume again. From that time till now, I must have re-done, re-formatted, re-worded, and completely changed it at least 10 times! Of course after each time, I would update it into Monster, HotJobs (Yahoo), and Dice (for technical jobs). Previously, most of my calls for interviews have been a result of searching on Craigslist - let's say ever sinced I started using Craigslist to search for employment, I've had at least 25 interviews. In total, maybe close to 40 utilizing all of my resources. Then, I started receiving calls from various technical recruiters - TekSystems, KForce (best so far - Yui Yamane.. you go girl!), TempTechs, etc just to name a few... out of the 15-20 out there that also have my numerous updated resumes online. What can I say? When you ask me about job hunting, I'm all about it. Yes, it takes awhile, but you definitely got to find something that will make you happy.
Well, after working a couple of temp-assignments (those 1 day or 1 week type), one of my technical recruiters calls and offers me to start working immediately for this company that is in need of Desktop Admin Support. Coincidentally, another company out in Long Beach had already scheduled a 2nd interview stating that I was their top candidate and possibly offer me the position for Database Admin (more like Data Entry). The difference between the two? Lets put it this way:
Desktop Admin Support << vs. >> Database Admin
Contract (no time length given) << vs. >> Permanent position
Santa Monica (commute 405 traffic) << vs. Long Beach (closer to home)
25% increase in salary << vs.>> equivalent to last employer
